Sid Roth has a television program called, “ITS SUPERNATURAL”
In 2010 he interviewed a young evangelist called Nathan Morris who had been preaching at a revival in Alabama.
The Bay Revival started in July 2010 while Morris was preaching at “Church of His Presence”, headed by John Kilpatrick.
It was held at the Mobile Convention Center for several months attracting mass audiences after supernatural healings were reported in the media.
The most publicised of these was Delia Knox, a woman who was paralysed for 22 years but has walked since Nathan Morris prayed for her.
In this interview both of the men emphasised how important the Blood of Jesus is and how the church needs to talk and teach more about the blood.
They said the seeker-sensitive movement has diminished proper teaching on the blood of Jesus.
I decided to take their advice and here is the result.
One of the most popular Bible verses on the blood is:
And they overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
The teaching I have heard over the years from some of the best such as Derek Prince.
A world famous Bible scholar who has since passed away.
Is to take this verse as an encouragement to express vocally what the blood of Jesus has done for us.
It is interesting to note that when Jesus talked about his blood for the first time, he lost a few followers.
Therefore, many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”
The blood of Jesus is not a popular teaching!
It is hard to understand and does sound a bit gruesome but it is important to know why the cross worked.
The Old Testament stories are even more pictorial…you should read Leviticus chapter 16.
Blood is flying around here, there, and everywhere.
Listen to what Leviticus 17:11 says about blood.
The life of each creature is in its blood.
So, I have given you the blood of animals to pay for your sin on the altar.
Blood is life.
That is why blood pays for your sin.
Here is one of the most important things you need to understand.
Blood has value.
Because the life of the creature is in the blood.
So, the life of God is in the blood of Jesus.
Jesus said to them, “What I’m about to tell you is true.
You must eat the Son of Man’s body and drink his blood.
If you don’t, you have no life in you.
Anyone who eats my body and drinks my blood has eternal life.
[ John 6:53,54 ]
The technical reason you are born again is because you have actually been sprinkled with the blood of Jesus.
To be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood.
[ 1Peter1:2 ]
Are you shocked to hear this?
Here is a verse that says your conscience has been cleansed.
Having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience.
[ Hebrews 10:22 ]
Guilt was removed from your conscience because something was sprinkled.
What was sprinkled?
Obviously, something that can cleanse guilt.
What would that be?
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences.
The only substance that exists in the universe that has the ability to clean a human conscience from guilt is the blood of Jesus.
Now you can see how important the blood is!
“How long will you waver between two opinions?”
[ 1Kings 18:21]
Elijah was giving the people a bit of a hurry up!
This story is in 1Kings chapter 18 and 19.
He challenges his opposition to see who can get fire to fall on the bull they have killed as a sacrifice.
Both sides have prepared an offering for their God.
Elijah lets the opposition go first.
They sing and dance and when nothing happens, they start cutting themselves.
So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed.
[ 1kings 18:28]
Teenagers have a big problem with cutting themselves, you can tell from this story… it is not from God.
Elijah does not have to shed his own blood.
Just the blood of a bull will do!
God answers his prayer and fire falls from heaven.
He won…the enemy lost!
The same result happened on the cross…Jesus shed his blood…he won…the enemy lost.
We get sprinkled in his blood when we are saved.
We win, the enemy loses.
You may be thinking, “How can I win in this Christian life?”
By prayer, by fasting, by Bible reading, or by going to church.
Of course, all these things will help you in your Christian walk.
But remember this, behind the scenes the blood of Jesus has enabled everything to work.
Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
That’s right, no blood means no forgiveness.
But there is blood so there is forgiveness.
Phew, what a relief!
Do not waver between two opinions…get your forgiveness today.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.
[1 John 1:9]
How does that work? This verse shows how!
The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
[1 John 1:7]
Yes, the blood of Jesus!
God forgives us and the blood purifies us.
God needed the blood of Jesus because animal blood does not do the job.
It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Animal blood does not take away sins.
One of the great blood stories is in Exodus 12.
Moses calls all the men and instructs them to select a lamb without defect.
They are to kill the lamb and eat it as a meal.
They are also told to get the lambs blood and sprinkle it on the tops and sides of the doorframes of their houses.
Then they and their families are to stay in the house overnight while the destroyer kills all the first-born of Egypt.
The most obvious benefit of the lamb’s blood is… it provides protection.
Most people when they need protection go to Psalm 91.
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
The blood and Psalm 91 are not mentioned together very often.
But you can see from the story in Exodus 12 that these people were dwelling in the shelter of God and resting in His shadow and they were doing this by applying the blood to their situation.
God had instructed them through Moses to use the blood of the lamb for their protection and their children’s protection.
Moses gave them another instruction.
The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing.
The Lord had made the Egyptians favourably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.
Immediately after these families applied the blood, they found themselves in a wealthy place.
Here is another story of God’s seemingly strange ways of getting his message across.
He spoke to Abraham and said:
“I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.
Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”
I always translate covenant for the word agreement, it just helps me understand things in a more modern way.
We see that Abraham has received “good news”.
His numbers are going to greatly increase.
Then God announces the “not so good news”.
You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the agreement between me and you.
For the rest of his life Abraham was going to wear a mark on his body that would remind him and his wife of God’s agreement.
Abraham was going to become a very important and influential man; these were serious promises and God made sure they were received in a serious way.
Whenever the blood of Jesus is mentioned in the New Testament it is also a serious business.
Paul writes to the Corinthian church about the way in which communion is being conducted and he is not very happy.
So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
[ 1 Corinthians 11:27 ]
That is his first warning; he then follows up with a stronger warning.
That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have died.
[ 1 Corinthians 11:30 ]
Wow, I bet those people changed their attitude after Paul got through dealing with them.
The problem the Corinthian church had was a lack of discernment.
For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.
[ 1 Corinthians 11:29 ]
Judas had the same problem; he did not discern who Jesus really was and he brought judgement on himself in a big way.
Let’s have a look at the last supper.
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
This is probably the third Passover that Jesus had celebrated with his disciples.
But this would be the first time Jesus mentioned his blood is the…
“blood of the new agreement.”
Please note what happens immediately following this statement.
But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”
Judas was not discerning who Jesus was and now he does not understand how powerful the blood of Jesus is.
He could have repented and confessed his sin!
The sequence of events is a little different in the gospel of John.
Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.”
Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.
As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him!
Now Satan is involved.
But Satan cannot hang around when the blood of Jesus is spoken about.
Things got too hot for Judas.
As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out.
And it was night.
When Judas left, Satan left with him.
The devil and his helper were removed from that table around the same time that Jesus had proclaimed his blood was the blood of the new agreement.
The thief left the table.
Never to return.
Judas was a thief and Satan was a thief.
Here is a verse from John 12:6
Judas didn’t say this because he cared about the poor.
But because he was a thief.
He was in charge of the moneybag.
Judas was a thief.
When he was around, less money was around.
Does this sound familiar?
The verse I mentioned at the beginning was:
And they overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
[Revelation 12:11 ]
My conviction is…we need to declare out loud what the blood of Jesus has done for us and when we do that… the devil has to leave.
He does not want us to speak about the blood of Jesus.
Remember what the Israelites were instructed to do by Moses.
Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses.
They were called to be active not passive.
The chief priests picked up the coins and said, ‘It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.
Imagine you are a detective, investigating the death of Jesus.
Initially everyone would have said it was just the legal system working.
The Governor himself had given permission for the execution.
The Jewish leaders believed Jesus had broken the law when he claimed to be the Son of God.
No one in authority that day really believed they were killing the Son of God. There would have been a lot of people washing their hands and denying responsibility.
But you are an experienced detective and you can smell a cover-up.
Step by step you start to put the pieces of the puzzle together knowing in your heart there is a piece missing.
Then you get the breakthrough…someone sends you information that is crucial.
Judas was paid to lead Jesus into a trap.
Yes, this is a turning point in your investigation.
Money was involved and the due process of the law is now in question.
The decision to execute Jesus was not done in a fair and impartial manner.
While you are in the middle of this investigation another bit of information arrives.
Apparently there are rumours that Jesus has been raised from the dead and now a second cover-up is happening.
The soldiers who saw the angel come down and roll the stone away have been paid to say, “His disciples came and took the body.”
Some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, ‘You are to say,
“His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.”
If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.’
So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed.
And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.
As a detective you come to the conclusion…not only was there official interference in the arrest and trial of Jesus, there is now more official interference taking place.
Eventually you are taken off the case because your superiors are getting very uncomfortable.
A few weeks later you are wandering through the streets of Jerusalem and see the apostle Peter talking to the crowd, Peter says,
“Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.”
Fast forward to the present and here you are a born-again Christian who is so thankful that you are not ignorant of who Jesus really is.
You have had your understanding opened up to the fact… that Jesus is the Son of God.
But we are surrounded by people who are still ignorant of who Jesus is.
They have not been good detectives; they believe the cover-up.
It is our privilege to unravel the puzzle and hand them the missing pieces of information.
We can tell them in a fair and impartial manner that, “Jesus was raised from the dead” and as we say those words… in faith.
We can believe for the Holy Spirit to provide the evidence by impacting their spirit with the truth of the gospel.
And trust God to open their minds to understand what’s really going on.
We need to tell them about God’s Amnesty.
What is an Amnesty?
(from the Greek amnestia, “forgetfulness”) is defined as:
“A pardon extended by the government to people who have broken the law and are subject to trial.”
It includes more than pardon, as it obliterates all legal remembrance of the offence.
Amnesty is more and more used to express “freedom” and the time when prisoners can go free.
The Port Arthur massacre in 1996… transformed public opinion in Australia.
This mass killing horrified the Australian public and had powerful political consequences.
An amnesty was declared for anyone who had illegal firearms.
Anyone in Australia could go to the police station and hand their guns to the police without fear of arrest and without having to face any punishment for any gun laws they had broken.
This is so similar to God’s offer of salvation.
God forgives and forgets our sins.
It does not matter what we have done.
All we do is repent and ask Him to forgive us.
The interesting thing about an amnesty that the government announces is the fact that there is always a start date and finish date.
Christians know that the start date for God’s amnesty of “Grace” was the resurrection of Jesus and the end date is when he returns.
But the real end date for people is the day they die, so we Christians preach the gospel saying,
“Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour now, because you do not know the day of your death.”
I don’t really understand why I am writing about this subject today.
As I sit here typing I am stirring myself into thinking…
”Is there someone I should be witnessing to?”
“Is there something I need to put right with God or man?”
Or should I just celebrate the fact that I got saved a long time ago and so did my wife. Or should I get extremely thankful to God for saving my children.
The answer is yes, yes, and yes!
Can I agree with you for your whole family to be saved and if that has already happened, can I celebrate with you, [party] in God’s goodness?
And let’s not forget God’s miracle cleaning substance that makes our salvation possible!
A friend of mine uses chemicals to clean her customer’s houses.
She is amazed when she goes into people’s homes because they are always showing her their new “miracle cleaner”.
Again and again she watches her customers buy some “new product“
from the supermarket, or they have seen the latest sensation from America on television and ordered some on their credit card.
Of course the product is endorsed by a b-grade movie star or celebrity.
[Whose careers have taken a turn for the worse].
A few years ago in Australia we had a larger than life character on T.V. called “Big Kev”.
“Big Kev” told everyone, he had discovered a miracle cleaner that could remove every stain known to man. All the housewives in Australia flooded into the supermarket to buy this miracle product.
I remember friends of ours raving about “Big Kev’s stain remover”.
My wife and I couldn’t believe the fuss everyone was making about this product.
Eventually a journalist did an investigation on “Big Kev”.
The result of the investigation surprised all involved.
Apparently all the products sold under “Big Kev’s” name… were products that had been previously available in the supermarkets under a different company name.
There was nothing new produced by “Big Kev”.
He had just repackaged someone else’s old cleaning chemicals.
The reason he was able to succeed is because there is a strong belief in many people’s hearts that somewhere, somehow, a real miracle cleaning substance does exist or will soon be discovered.
I am going to take a big leap of faith and finish this story by saying… they are right to believe that such a product is possible…but they are wrong if they believe the product is for their house cleaning.
No dear readers, there is no miracle product for your house…but there is a miracle product for your heart.
God has a miracle product that can clean your heart.
All we have to do is confess our sins and immediately this product makes us clean on the inside.
God uses this product to clean our heart and our conscience.
It even removes guilt.
How good is that?
You know what this substance is..!!
God makes it available because of the Cross.
Let me quote you a scripture.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
[ 1 John 1:7]
Here is a second verse.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
[ 1 John 1:9 ]
My family and I were walking along the beachfront cliffs in Sydney recently when we noticed a fence with flowers attached to it.
Apparently this was a popular spot for suicide.
I immediately remembered what people say when they hear about a suicide.
“A permanent solution for a temporary situation.”
Another example of this way of thinking is divorce.
It feels so right at the time.
You just want the pain to go away.
A popular book about forgiveness had been given to us as a gift, not that I needed to forgive anyone.
Okay maybe a few people.
I was bored… so I read it.
It had an interesting story about an Australian Christian pastor.
He was very successful and well known in the 1980’s.
But he committed adultery and his wife divorced him.
Ten years later they remarried.
He had seen the error of his ways and after a few years in the wilderness he started writing to his wife on a daily basis.
Luckily she had not remarried.
At first she wanted nothing to do with him.
Her heart was cold and hard.
But he persevered with his letters for over a year and slowly she felt a love for him returning.
The biggest obstacle for her was the public disgrace.
In the end even that mountain was moved out of the way.
So they remarried, they were both in their fifties.
The wife also noticed that after they remarried it was as if they had never divorced.
The restoration was that complete.
The main key for this positive outcome was her decision to forgive her husband.
Earlier this week there was a headline in the newspaper about a shortage of locally grown oranges.
The article said that the orange juice suppliers were having trouble getting enough oranges.
They were having to adjust their labels to inform their customers that some overseas product had been added.
The reason for the shortage of oranges was the citrus growers were being paid such low prices for their oranges.
They pulled up their orange trees and planted something more profitable.
Now we have a shortage of oranges and the price is going up.
Any citrus grower who did not pull up their trees is now making a big profit.
Same situation with your marriage.
Maybe divorce is not the right decision.
Try and think ten years ahead.
Both of you will change as you grow older.
Forgiveness could be the key to unlock your heart.
Don’t be in a hurry to let your marriage be uprooted.
For some people in dangerous or abusive situations divorce is the right choice.
But for many others it is,
“A permanent solution for a temporary situation.”
This Story of Forgiveness is from a book called:
A Brief History of Revival in New Zealand.
By Jenny Sharkey.
New Zealand in the 1800’s was being ravaged by revenge wars between the different tribes.
This made the work of the missionaries almost impossible.
In April 1835 Rev Alfred Brown opened a mission station at Matamata.
His early converts were a father and daughter.
The daughter was given a book of Luke.
She kept the book in a small woven purse and tied it around her neck.
The father and daughter moved away from the area because they did not want to be involved in the revenge wars.
They were Christians now and wanted to live in peace.
But they were attacked by another tribe.
The daughter was killed as an act of revenge, for an earlier murder that her tribe had committed.
In the middle of this horrible tragedy the father refused to take revenge.
He forgave the killers and trusted God to bring justice for his daughter.
Someone in the war party took the Bible,
[ the book of Luke] from the daughters body.
Eventually it fell into the hands of someone else in the tribe who could read.
One day the daughter’s killer heard it being read and became a Christian.
He repented and confessed his sin.
He asked God to forgive him.
He went to the father and asked for his forgiveness.
The father forgave him.
This act of forgiveness led to a time of peace between the warring tribes.
I was really impressed by this powerful story of forgiveness.
And felt to share it; for anyone who is struggling to forgive.
Forgiveness is a key for healing.
It opens the door of our hearts.
Let forgiveness flow out of you today like a river.
Forgive everyone… for everything.
For the past, present and future.
And may God’s healing grace flood into you, and every area of your life.
Into your body.
Into your mind.
Into your heart.
Into your finances.
And into all your relationships.
The healing power of love can change your life.
It can turn you into a new person.
Open your heart to receive this love.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PRAYER
Prayer for Salvation.
Dear Father God I come home to you.
I want to experience your love.
I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son.
I believe He died on the cross for me.
I ask you to forgive my sins,
I open my heart to your gift of salvation.
I welcome Jesus into my heart.
I now believe I am saved.
Thank you for taking the time to read this book.
