14 Days of Stress and Worried about Your Hair

5 Lessons – How to Survive a Shipwreck.

If you’re walking through a storm right now—emotionally, mentally, physically—take a deep breath and be encouraged. The story of Paul’s shipwreck in Acts 27–28 is more than a historical account; it’s a message of hope for anyone feeling stressed, uncertain, or stuck.

Paul and 275 others were caught in a brutal storm at sea. For fourteen days, they were in suspense. They couldn’t see the sun or stars. They hadn’t eaten. All hope seemed lost. Some of the crew even tried to abandon ship. Maybe you’ve felt like doing the same—just letting go, giving up, or checking out emotionally. But in that darkest moment, Paul stood up and shared what God had shown him.

He said, “Men, you should have listened to me… but now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.” He shared a word from an angel of God: “Do not be afraid, Paul… God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.” (Acts 27:21–24)

Even in the chaos, God saw every person. Not a single hair would be lost. And in the end, though the ship was wrecked, everyone arrived safely on shore.

Maybe you feel like parts of your life have shipwrecked—your plans, your peace, or your hope. But just like in this story, God is not finished with you. Here are 5 keys to help with stress, based on this powerful account:

1. Hear a word from God

In the middle of the storm, Paul heard from God. When everything else felt out of control, God’s word anchored him. In times of stress, turn to Scripture, prayer, or wise, faith-filled people who remind you of truth. God is still speaking peace to your heart.

2. Start eating the food of encouragement

Paul urged everyone to eat and take courage. “Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head,” he said. He then broke bread, gave thanks, and began to eat. Eating in faith, even in a storm, is powerful. Feed yourself daily with God’s promises. Speak life over yourself. Encourage your spirit with what nourishes you.

3. The ship may break—but it will be replaced

They lost the ship, but not their purpose. Sometimes, the thing you were depending on—your plan, your routine, your expectations—might break apart. But that’s not the end of the story. God has a new path waiting. The ship is not your source—God is.

4. Someone will light a fire

After the shipwreck, they arrived on an unfamiliar island. And the first thing the islanders did? They lit a fire for them (Acts 28:2). This is where we see a deeper message: it’s time to fan your own fire into flame.

Paul later writes in 2 Timothy 1:6, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” The fire on the island reminds us: you still have a gift inside you, even after the storm. Don’t let it go cold.

Fanning your gift into flame might look like:

  • Picking up your instrument or pen again.
  • Returning to prayer or work.
  • Volunteering, encouraging others, or starting a passion project.
  • Speaking up with boldness when you’d usually stay silent.
  • Taking one small step toward something God put on your heart.

Even if your surroundings feel unfamiliar, God can send strangers to bless you—and He can reignite the fire within you.

5. You will be treated with unusual kindness

The people on the island didn’t reject the survivors—they welcomed them with warmth and kindness. God has people waiting to help you, even in places you don’t expect. Healing, provision, and favor can show up in unexpected places, through unexpected people.

So if you’re tired, scared, or uncertain:

  • Listen for God’s voice.
  • Feed yourself with courage.
  • Trust that what was lost will be restored.
  • Fan your gift back into flame.
  • And watch how God surrounds you with kindness, even after the storm.

You will arrive safely. Not a hair will be lost. And the fire in you will burn again.

Cabot Church Community: Newsletter

Written by Bonnie

In central Arkansas is Cabot. This small town is only about 30 minutes from Little Rock, but its proximity to the big city doesn’t cost it any of the small-town charms. The community is family-friendly, and residents of all ages enjoy spending time together at the city’s parks, which are equipped with playgrounds, baseball fields, soccer fields, walking paths, and pavilions for gathering. Community Pond Park has a fishing pond stocked by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, a dog park for large and small dogs, and an 18-hole disc golf course! Cabot also has sports leagues for kids and adults so you can play your favorite sport year-round. In the spring, the residents celebrate their famous crops with the Strawberry Festival. For one weekend in April, the community enjoys food trucks, local vendors, live entertainment, and a 5K race, all in the name of strawberries!

But what makes Cabot truly special is its strong faith community, which continues to grow and serve. As we reflect on the importance of ministry, we recognize that many hands make light work. There are countless roles in the church, and the gift of helps is one of the most significant. Whether it’s assisting with Sunday school, volunteering for community outreach, or helping maintain our place of worship, every contribution strengthens the body of Christ.

Recently, a young woman in our congregation had an experience that reminded us of the power of discernment. While visiting, she encountered someone who was speaking words that seemed true on the surface but carried a troubling spirit beneath. Just as Paul and Silas encountered the spirit of divination in Acts 16, we are reminded that true wisdom comes from God. Through prayer and faith, we can discern what is truly of the Lord.

We are also reminded that the enemy is crafty. False prophets may appear righteous and even speak truths, but their hearts may not be aligned with God’s will. Matthew 4:29 warns us that “an evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign.” Our faith must be built on the unshakable foundation of Christ, not on wonders that can deceive. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, and we can trust in His eternal plan.

In our own lives, we often encounter trials that test our faith. One of our brothers in Christ, Jeff, shared his story of transformation. Once lost in addiction and seeking spiritual enlightenment through worldly means, he came to understand that only Christ provides true salvation. His testimony reminds us that no one is beyond God’s reach. His grace is sufficient, and His love knows no bounds.

As we prepare for the coming months, let us focus on unity, prayer, and service. Whether it’s through acts of kindness, participation in ministry, or simply encouraging one another, we are called to be the light of the world. Let us seek God’s will in all we do, remembering that He desires to work through us. As we read in Philippians 2:25-30, even the most faithful servants face hardships, but through perseverance and faith, we find strength.

Finally, we encourage you to get involved in our upcoming events. This spring, we will celebrate together at the Strawberry Festival, a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship and support our community. Beyond the festivities, let us also remember to support one another spiritually. God is at work in Cabot, and we are blessed to be a part of His plan.

May the Lord bless you and keep you always!

In Christ, Bonnie

Anointing and Leadership Today

Chapter 1: The Heart of Love, Purity, and Restoration

God calls His people to embody His love, purity, and justice, inspiring transformative shifts across the world. This divine commission demands great sacrifice, as reflected in the lives of those anointed to carry His message. Malachi 3:16 reminds us that God listens to those who fear Him, recording their faithfulness in His book of remembrance. These individuals stand as beacons of restoration, rebuilding ruins with unprecedented increase and healing. Through meditation and contemplation in God’s Word, believers sharpen their discernment, navigating between good and evil (Hebrews 5:14). This disciplined practice aligns their hearts with God’s purposes, enabling them to cast burdens of doubt onto Him and embrace His light.

As the world grapples with crises, God’s people are called to steward their words and actions wisely. The weighty responsibility entrusted to them in this era carries the potential for profound change. Visionary leaders, driven by unwavering faith, urge the Church to lean into the birthing of a new spiritual awakening. This era promises waves of transformation, healing, and salvation, particularly in the marketplace. Such divine moves require wholehearted surrender, consecration, and a deepening intimacy with God.

Chapter 2: Stewarding the Anointing

The anointing to partner with God demands selfless dedication and faithfulness. As Jesus exemplified, His life and light bring liberty to the captive and hope to the broken. This sacred mission often involves challenges, yet the promise of restoration and recompense outweighs the sacrifices. The Bible, a timeless guide, reflects this commitment, with inscriptions that testify to the enduring faith of generations. Scripture reveals that transformation requires both time and faith, just as a seed must be nurtured before bearing fruit.

Through obedience and surrender, believers participate in God’s redemptive work. They proclaim His truth, even in the face of opposition. Like the prophets and preachers of old, they speak boldly, stirring hearts to action. Their message carries a dual mandate: to awaken the Church and reach the lost. As they persevere, the Spirit empowers them to fulfill their calling with strength and grace.

Chapter 3: The Dawn of a New Era

God is awakening His Church for a new era of revival, marked by His Spirit’s outpouring. Believers are invited to consecrate themselves, creating space for His glory to saturate their lives. This season is one of restoration and dreaming again with Jesus. As they align with God’s purposes, they partner with Him in a move of the Spirit unlike anything witnessed before.

Through unity, faith, and the power of the Spirit, believers are equipped to overcome darkness and bring God’s light to all nations. The cry of neglected Scriptures echoes in this generation, urging them to reveal the importance of God’s Word. From the marketplace to the pulpit, waves of healing, transformation, and salvation sweep across the land. This is a time of preparation, as the Bride of Christ readies herself for the fulfillment of His promises.

God’s people are called to rise above fear and complacency, stepping boldly into their divine destiny. As they confront challenges, they are reminded of the victory secured in Christ. The fruit of their labor will glorify God, as His kingdom advances with power and love, bringing hope to a broken world.
