Introduction
Good morning, everyone! What an incredible blessing it is to gather here in Kalamazoo for this powerful church conference. Today, I have the privilege of sharing a story that will inspire and encourage each of us in our journey of faith.

This is the story of Sophie—a young woman from right here in Kalamazoo—who, through faith, hard work, and God’s provision, turned her small dream into an extraordinary success. Her story is a testimony to perseverance, divine favor, and the rewards of trusting in the Lord.

A Dream Begins
Sophie had a deep love for coffee. Working as a barista, she often dreamed of owning her own café. But with limited finances and no business experience, the idea seemed almost impossible. However, instead of giving up, Sophie decided to start small.

She purchased a coffee cart with what little savings she had and set up shop in local markets and events. Each morning, she prayed over her cart, asking God to bless her work and lead her steps.

“She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.” – Proverbs 31:17

Sophie worked tirelessly, waking up before dawn to brew coffee and serve her customers. Yet, despite her efforts, business was slow. There were days when she barely made enough to cover costs. It would have been easy to give up—but she held on to her faith, trusting that God had a plan.

A Social Media Miracle
One day, a well-known food blogger happened to stop by her cart. Impressed by Sophie’s passion and the quality of her coffee, he shared a glowing review on social media. Within days, her small business went viral.

Suddenly, people from all over Kalamazoo—and beyond—wanted to try Sophie’s coffee. Lines formed around her cart, and she struggled to keep up with the demand.

She was overwhelmed, but she also saw God’s hand at work.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” – Psalm 34:8

Sophie’s brand had taken off, but with growth came new challenges. The rapid success put a financial strain on her business. She needed more equipment, employees, and a larger space—but she didn’t have the funds to expand.

God’s Provision
Just when it seemed like her dream was slipping away, an unexpected investor stepped forward. A Christian business owner who had been following her journey felt led to support her vision. He provided the funding she needed to open her first brick-and-mortar café.

With this support, Sophie’s small coffee cart transformed into a full-fledged coffee shop—and eventually, a chain of cafés across Michigan! What started as a simple dream turned into a thriving business, all because Sophie remained faithful and trusted in God’s plan.

A Message for Us All
Sophie’s story is a reminder that when God places a dream in our hearts, He will also provide the means to fulfill it. There will be obstacles, but if we remain faithful, work diligently, and trust in His timing, He will open doors we never imagined.

Maybe today, you’re feeling discouraged about a dream God has placed in your heart. Maybe you’ve started something but are struggling to see progress. Let Sophie’s story be a reminder that God is faithful.

Milford Bible Study by Bella

In the quaint town of Milford, Delaware, a group of eager participants gathered for a Bible study led by Bella. Milford, known for its charm and thriving community, offered the perfect setting for a night of spiritual growth and reflection. Bella, a gentle and insightful leader, welcomed the group with warmth, speaking passionately about how God’s presence can be felt in even the smallest towns, where a mix of history, growth, and beauty converge.

As the group settled into the cozy room at the community church, Bella began with a prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to guide the discussion and open their hearts. She reflected on how Milford, a town that might be considered “small” in some aspects, was filled with so much promise and potential. Just like the town itself, each person present was part of a greater plan, a thriving community of believers who were ready to make an impact for God’s kingdom.

“Milford is a place that is growing and thriving,” Bella said. “In the same way, our faith is meant to grow, even in the smallest moments. The town may be small in comparison to others, but the heart of this community beats with purpose. When we come together to study God’s Word, we too create something beautiful and life-giving.”

She reminded the group of the verse from 1 Corinthians 3:6, where Paul writes, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” Just as Milford offered a place for growth, both for individuals and the community, their faith could grow through the Word and through one another.

Bella also reflected on how Milford’s mix of history and modern living mirrored the way God has been faithful through generations. She pointed out how Milford is known for its historical landmarks and vibrant downtown area, where people from all walks of life come together. Just as the town holds onto its rich past, believers must hold onto the truth of God’s Word and allow it to shape their present and future.

In her discussion, Bella tied the town’s thriving downtown area, filled with shopping and dining options, to the way God’s blessings nourish His people. Just as Milford offers a place where people can gather, interact, and share life together, the Word of God provides a place where individuals can come to nourish their spirits and find joy. “Just like you find good food and good company in Milford’s downtown,” Bella said, “we find nourishment in the truth of the Scriptures, and in the fellowship of our Christian community.”

The study then turned to the idea of “home.” Bella asked the group to reflect on the importance of where they choose to live, both physically and spiritually. She mentioned the variety of housing options in Milford, from downtown living to more rural neighborhoods, as a reminder that God provides a space for each of His people, no matter their background or circumstances.

“We are all given a place to live, a place where we can find peace and safety,” Bella said, opening her Bible to John 14:2. “In my Father’s house are many rooms,” Jesus said. “If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?” Just as Milford provides a variety of living spaces for different people, so too does God prepare a place for each of us in His eternal home. This promise of a spiritual home is one of the greatest assurances that Christians hold dear.

Bella also emphasized how Milford’s location, with its proximity to beautiful beaches and larger cities like Rehoboth Beach and Philadelphia, was a symbol of God’s perfect timing and provision. “In our journey as believers, God sometimes places us in communities where we can enjoy the best of both worlds,” she said. “In Milford, you have a quiet, peaceful environment, but you’re also close enough to the excitement of the world. Similarly, as Christians, we can experience peace in God’s presence while still engaging with the world around us.”

With that in mind, Bella encouraged the group to think about their roles as ambassadors for Christ in their own communities. Just as Milford serves as a place of connection, a bridge between the rural and the coastal, they too were called to bridge the gap between heaven and earth, sharing the love of Christ in the spaces they inhabited.

As Bella closed the study, she reminded the group of the importance of both physical and spiritual growth. “We can be like the town of Milford,” she said. “Thriving in our faith, rooted in history, surrounded by beauty, and offering others a place to belong.” She encouraged them to reflect on how they could actively cultivate their faith and how they could contribute to the thriving community of believers in their church, just as Milford continues to grow in its unique way.

With a prayer of blessing, Bella sent the group out into the night, encouraging them to carry the message of hope and transformation, knowing that just as Milford had a purpose in God’s plan, so too did they. The study may have concluded, but the call to grow, to thrive, and to be a light in the world was only just beginning.

Making the Right Decision for Success

Whenever the Olympics come around, the spotlight shifts to our sporting legends, and we celebrate their past victories. Here in Australia, the media loves to bring back those champions who made history. They stand tall at receptions, interviews, and special events, honored and respected like royalty. But here’s the truth: for some of these athletes, their moment of glory was over 40 years ago. Since then, life hasn’t exactly been a story of one success after another. Some of them haven’t achieved anything remarkable since their big win. Yet we still celebrate them, not because of what they’ve done recently, but because of that one moment when they got it right.

Now, think about that for a second. You can make a choice, take action in one moment, and that decision can continue to bless you for the rest of your life. If you’re in a great relationship today, it’s because of choices you made in the past. If you’re succeeding in business, it’s because of the decisions you made and the risks you took along the way.

And it all starts with a single moment, just like the day you step up to the plate in a baseball game. You know that feeling, don’t you? The ball is coming at you fast, and you’ve got a split second to decide—swing or hold back? That decision could be the difference between a home run and a missed opportunity. Just like a game-winning hit can change everything for your team, a right decision in life can open up opportunities you never imagined. But if you let the moment pass, you could miss out.

Let me tell you a story. Take Joe Carter, for instance. In 1993, during Game 6 of the World Series, Joe stepped up to the plate for the Toronto Blue Jays with everything on the line. The series was tight. His team was down by a run. It was the kind of pressure that can make or break an athlete. But Joe didn’t flinch. He saw his pitch, made a decision, and swung. The ball flew into the stands for a home run, and that hit won the World Series for his team. That’s the power of a single moment. One decision, one swing, changed everything.

And let me tell you, life works the same way. You might be waiting for the right pitch, standing at a crossroads, unsure of whether to swing or not. But when the right opportunity presents itself, you’ve got to go for it. You’ve got to trust yourself and take that shot. Everyone remembers Joe Carter’s home run, not the strikes he missed in other games. Just like in life, what matters is that you got it right when it counted.

Here’s another story for you. When Derek Jeter first started with the New York Yankees, he didn’t get it right every time. In fact, there were plenty of moments when he struck out. But what set Jeter apart was that he kept showing up, kept swinging, and when the game was on the line, he delivered. He knew that one great hit could change everything. And it did. Jeter became one of the greatest players in the history of the game, not because he was perfect, but because he seized the moment when it mattered most.

So, let me ask you—what’s your moment? What decision is in front of you right now? Maybe it’s something in your business. Maybe it’s something personal. Whatever it is, you’ve got to step up to the plate, trust your instincts, and swing for the fences. Because just like that gold medal athlete or that baseball hero, you’ve got greatness inside you. You’ve got the power to make a decision today that will keep blessing you for years to come.

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve struck out in the past. What matters is that you get it right when the moment comes. And when you do, the doors will open for you, just like they did for that young baseball player who finally hit the home run of his career. Because people love a winner, and the world opens up when you show you can deliver.

So, get out there. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back. The next pitch is coming, and you’ve got the power to knock it out of the park. Make that decision, take that swing, and watch how one moment can change everything for you.
